In April of 2011 I bought my very first iPhone, and my world has never been the same. I have become accustomed to keeping myself plenty entertained with the countless apps for social media, gaming, music, sports, photography, shopping and the list seems to be added upon constantly. There seems to be an app for everything, well almost everything.
I have noticed lately how dependent I have become on the ease and convenience of mobile apps. A couple of weeks ago I found a few different digital magazine websites that feature different products for men; from clothes, to shoes, to techy stuff, etc. So I decided to find it in the app store and only one of the digital magazines had an app. So now that is the only one that I use. I think that is a trend that we’re starting to see more of; mobile apps instead of mobile sites.
I read an article on my New York Times mobile news app, “Mobile App Downloads Set Records on Christmas,” that said between Apple and Android users there were 150 million app downloads on Christmas Eve, and 242 million on Christmas day. In all of December there was a reported growth of 125% in the app market. Obviously the app phenomenon is only getting started.
